TEXT

Performance på åbningsdagen:
How to Howl med Maria Lepistö kl 19.00.

En gruppeudstilling med;
Coley Mixan (US), Nicky Ulrich-Sparre (DK), Ida Schrader (DK), Maria Lepistö (SE), Nickie Sigurdsson (DK) og kunstnerduoen Considered to be Allies bestående af Mie Frederikke Fischer (DK) og Margaux Parillaud (FR).

Considered to be Allies videoinstallation i midten af rummet dokumenterer omstændighederne omkring to totale solformørkelser i USA og viser os naturens vedvarende samlingskraft.

Opening: Friday 26.04.2024 at 17-21.00.
Performance: How to Howl with Maria Lepistö at 19.00.
During the evening: Gathering around an open fire with flute playing by Raoul Audouin

The exhibition runs until 26 May 2024, and is open Thursday to Sunday at 13.00-17.00

A group exhibition with;
Coley Mixan (US), Nicky Ulrich-Sparre (DK), Ida Schrader (DK), Maria Lepistö (SE), Nickie Sigurdsson (DK) and the artist duo Considered to be Allies consisting of Mie Frederikke Fischer (DK) and Margaux Parillaud (FR ).

The exhibition Hunters and Gatherers invites seven artists to offer different perspectives on humans as herd animals,
in a modern world characterized by loneliness and longing for connection with the surrounding world.
Based on the experience of the total solar eclipse in 2017 and 2024, the artist duo, Considered to be Allies, have created a new video work and invited 5 other artists to a joint dialogue centered on collectivity and interconnectedness. Humans as herd animals are central to the exhibition, which invites collective reflection through performances, workshops and in the experience of the exhibition's individual works.

At the transtations main entrance the visitor is paralyzed like a deer in the light of two blinding headlights in Nicky Ulrich-Sparre's painting. Ulrich-Sparre uses light and darkness to create stories that lie between the illusionary quality of the painting and the viewer's own frame of reference. For this exhibition, he looks back at his own past as a graffiti painter within a group who hunts, gathers and are themselves hunted in the dark.
The American artist Coley Mixans Digital collages are shown in the station's poster frieze; The aesthetics of fast food advertising is distorted in psychedelic tableaus that manage to both appreciate and criticize the consumer-oriented materiality we have created around us. Ida Schrader's sculpture "Deadlock” is placed centrally in the exhibition space: Electromagnetic pendulums that collectively look like a mechanical cornfield. The exhibition also stages Schrader's three beeswax reliefs; round faces that bring to mind the sun and moon, but who is sun; and who is moon?
In the time of the hunters and gatherers, solar eclipses were seen as a bad omen, something that fell outside the normal rhythm of nature. Today it is an epic event, a pop cultural spectacle with associated merchandise and memorabilia. Considered to be Allie's video installation documents the circumstances surrounding two total solar eclipses in the United States and shows us nature's enduring unifying power.
Nickie Sigurdsson is interested in how ritualistically-centered structures can help counteract the effects of late capitalism and how these tools can guide us within collective practices. In her work "Night Sweeper" found and manipulated objects are combined with plants from Sydhavnstippen. The sculpture will be activated in a workshop that will take place at Sydhavnstippen on May 16. Maria Lepistö works with animal communication and, in addition to a installation based on her many years of research into wolves' mutual communication, she will also invite the audience to the performative workshop "How to howl" at the opening on April 26.
